Multisensory Approach in Teaching Children with Dyslexia: An Effective Strategy to Improve Reading Skills

Abstract

Dyslexia is a learning disorder that affects children's reading abilities, thus requiring the implementation of innovative teaching methods. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a multisensory approach in improving literacy skills in children with dyslexia. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method. The appropriate teaching method for students with dyslexia is the multisensory approach, which not only involves the senses of sight and hearing but can also be enhanced through movement and touch. The results of implementing this approach show a significant improvement in reading ability as well as in children's learning motivation. These findings are recommended as an effective strategy in the education of children with dyslexia and are expected to provide support for educators in enhancing the reading skills of dyslexic students.
