Abstract

Contemporary literary criticism in Indonesia often reduces the theme of loneliness in poetry to merely psychological melodrama or the impact of socio-urban isolation without considering the depth of its ontological dimension. In contrast, this study aims to uncover the philosophical depth of the text by answering the question of how the modes of human authenticity (eigentlich) and inauthenticity (uneigentlich) are manifested in the poem Identitas Kesepian by Ibe S. Palogai based on the perspective of Martin Heidegger's phenomenological ontology. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a micro-close reading technique on textual data units in the form of verses and lines of poetry that are directly confronted with Heidegger's existential analysis. The results show that human inauthenticity is presented spatially and materially through the metaphor of labels and shirts as a manifestation of the subject's existential fall (verfallen) into the dictatorship of the uniformity of the public world (Das Man). Conversely, human authenticity is depicted as a radical turning point process when public validation metaphorized through the embrace of applause collapses. in the face of silence through the workings of existential anxiety (Angst). The research findings also confirm that loneliness in this poem is not a passive resignation, but rather an active and productive agency instrument for cracking mass falsehoods in order to reclaim independent selfhood.
