Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Quran teachers (guru ngaji) in shaping children's character, particularly within the context of Islamic religious education. Quran teachers hold an important position in shaping children's personalities and moral values through the teaching of the Qur'an and the religious values it conveys. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach, in which data were collected through in-depth interviews with Quran teachers and parents, as well as observations of children's Quran learning activities. The results of the study indicate that the role of Quran teachers extends beyond teaching religious knowledge. It also encompasses character development, such as fostering discipline, responsibility, honesty, and social awareness. Furthermore, the interactions between Quran teachers and children form relationships built on love and mutual respect, which support the development of positive character traits. Therefore, the role of Quran teachers is vital in the character-building process of children, not only in religious contexts but also in the broader social and moral aspects of everyday life.
